Crosswords – especially cryptic ones – have always fascinated me. A couple of years back I set myself the task of doing one a day – the Guardian one, which I can print off daily online.

I love the wordplay, the misdirection, the puns, the knowledge, the range of vocuabulary (you see – Latin and Greek A-Levels do have a use!) and so on.

I’m developing a site of my own which will allow users to solve crossword-style cryptic clues daily – that’s a Lockdown Project still in progress – but in the meantime, I’m doing the Guardian. You can check how I’m getting on by looking at the timeline at the bottom of the home page, where there is a colour depiction of the past eight days of crossword attempts.

And I’ll also post here when I have sorted out the crossword clues website.
